OPC Member Seeks Divorce Over Wife’s Temper

Falana Jimoh, a member of the Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC,  in Lagos has urged the Agege Customary Court to dissolve his 13-year-old marriage with his second wife, Funke Falana.

Falana told the judge, Ibironke Elabo, that he now hates his wife, who has bore him three children.  He said she often fights with his other wives especially his fourth wife and curses his other children. He told the court that since she moved out of the house years ago he has not touched her.

“I heard one of my subordinate slept with her, to which I called her attention to it and told her to come and swear and oath to which she refused I now hate her so much. She has thrice threw a cup at me and at one point she tore my clothe in front of my colleagues and wanted to stab me with scissors because I opened shop for my fourth wife,” he said.

Funke told the court that her husband was lying and had had sex with her three times in the last one month. She accused him of neglect saying he only gave her N1000 to cater for herself and her kids. She pleaded with the court not to dissolve the marriage.

Elabo, the Court President, said the crisis will be resolved and further stated that Lagos state wants resolution between marriages especially if there’s a slight chance of resolution between both parties. The case was further adjourned to July 26.
