Rafiu Ibrahim, the lawmaker representing Kwara South senatorial district, has disclosed that Bukola Saraki, the Senate President, has assembled a team of senior lawyers to argue against the allegation of complicity in the Offa robbery saga levelled against him by the Police.
Ibrahim, who was among the 14 senators that defected from the All Progressives Congress, APC, on Tuesday, confirmed that the Saraki's legal team is largely populated with several Senior Advocates of Nigeria, SANs.
“The Senate President has a very strong legal team of many senior advocates of Nigeria who are already working on the issue. He has a legal issue with the police and he will take the case up legally", Ibrahim told the Punch.
Saraki's formation of a formidable legal team comes amidst insistence by the Police that he is still under investigation despite a letter from Abubakar Malami, the Attorney-General of the Federation, clearing him of the allegations because of the lack of evidence.
Already, a team of police investigators had interrogated the Senate President at his office on Thursday.
