SARS Operatives Allegedly Rob Man Of N5m

Operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, of the Nigerian Police on Tuesday, were alleged to have robbed a man of N5 million in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

According to a post on Twitter by China Acheru, a journalist, the incident occurred around Abacha road Port Harcourt GRA.

The journalist alleged that the officers were in identifiable SARS uniform and had trailed the victim from the bank.

Acheru added that the victim was so distraught that his face could not be filmed in a video.

The police is yet to confirm the incident as at the time of filing this report.

The incident comes at a period when a social media campaign seeking the disbandment of the SARS unit of the Police is increasing in momentum.

The SARS operatives have been accused by some Nigerians of being too excessive with force and complicit in criminal activities.

However, the police authorities continue to debunk the allegations.
