A school teacher, Obialor Nkechika, has been charged at an Ikeja Chief Magistrates, for flogging and causing injuries to two school pupils. The accused is facing a two-count charge of unlawful assault. She however pleaded “not guilty.” The teacher, 37, allegedly committed the crime on April 16, April 16, at Attitude Nursery and Primary School, located on No 5/11, Chris Ebie Street, Ago-Palace Way, Okota-Isolo, Lagos. She was said to have inflicted injuries to the face and legs of one Chinasa Enekwa and Ada-Eze Anekwa, while beating them with cane. The victims are eight and 10 year-old respectively. Police prosecutor, Chinaka Patience, said the offences were contrary and punishable under Sections 170 and 245 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. Chris Johnson, the defense counsel, applied for bail for the defendant. The presiding Magistrate, O. Amzat, granted her N200,000 bail, with one surety in like sum. She ruled that the surety must be gainfully employed and live at a verifiable house address. Amzat adjourned until October 22, 2018.
