Fiorentina have rejected a €40 million bid from Atletico Madrid manager, Diego Simeone, for his son, Giovanni.
According to The Sun, the Atletico’s head coach wants to add the striker to his team, to bolster his attack ahead of the new season.
However, the Italian club have reportedly demanded for more money for the 23-year-old, who scored 15 goals and provided four assists in 41 appearances last season.
Simeoni had revealed that he would love to manage his son, saying he has the potential to “establish himself as a great striker”.
He said, “The player I’d like to coach is my son Giovanni. I love his skills, I think he can become a great striker.
“He is physically strong and he runs up and down the pitch, he works for the team and is hungry to win games.
“It’s always hard, however, to train your son. Just look at Michel who is coaching his son Adrian at Malaga. It’s not easy.”
Giovanni’s current contract with the Florence team will expire in 2022.
