Acting President Yemi Osinbajo has commended the Nigerian students who won the 2018 Technovation World Pitch award in California, in the United States of America.
Osinbajo, who congratulated the students – all girls – on social media, shared photos of them being decorated with their medals.
”These young ladies in Junior Secondary School, developed a mobile application called ‘FD Detector’ to tackle the problems of fake pharmaceutical products in Nigeria. Yesterday, they won the 2018 Technovation World Pitch in California. Congratulations! We are very proud of you.”
Osinbajo also praised Uchenna Onwuameaegbu-Ugwu, who reportedly mentored the ladies.
“Uchenna Onwuamaegbu-Ugwu, the founder of Edufun Technik STEM Center. I understand that she and her company were responsible for mentoring the young ladies. Great job!”
According to the organizers, Technovation is focused on offering girls around the world the opportunity to learn skills they need to emerge as tech entrepreneurs and leaders.
