Police After My Life, Melaye Cries

Senator Dino Melaye, representing Kogi West, has alleged that the police are after his life.

Melaye, who spoke to newsmen on Friday, said the force had instituted five cases against him and had refused to release his international passport as ordered by a magistrates' court.

The newly-defected lawmaker said he had become the most humiliated politician in the country.

“The same police have been looking for me to kill me. As I speak to you, I have six arraignments in six different courts for one frivolous, framed-up charge or the other,” the lawmaker said.

“No politician has been so humiliated in this country. Six arraignments. One by the federal government through the office of the attorney-general of the federation and five by the Nigeria police.

“The latest was on Wednesday last week, a fresh arraignment before an FCT high court.”

Melaye has been accused by the police of supplying arms to armed robbers and kidnappers. He was most recently arraigned for allegedly trying to jump off a police van after his arrest.
