Three Arraigned For Stealing Sewing Machines

Three persons were on Thursday arraigned before an Oredo Magistrates Court, sitting in Edo state, for allegedly stealing two sewing machines worth N66, 000.

The suspects are Abdullahi Yahaya, Husseni Ibrahim and Musa Abimiku.

Other items allegedly stolen by the suspects were one electric iron valued at N5000, one scissors valued at N500, ten pieces of women wrappers valued at N50, 000. The stolen items was said to be owned by one Chukwu Oko.

Police prosecutor, Patrick Agbonifo told the court that the defendant committed the offence on May 10, 2018 at Okundia Street, Benin City. He said that the offences were punishable under sections 576, 414, 390(9) and 427 of the Criminal Code Cap 48 Vol. II Laws of the defunct Bendel State now applicable in Edo State.

The suspects pleaded ‘not guilty’ to the four counts charge of stealing, conspiracy, preferred against them.

Presiding Magistrate, I.A Osayande, granted the accused persons bail in the sum of N140, 000 each with a surety in like sum. The magistrate said that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.

The case was adjourned to August 24, 2018.
