The Nigeria Golden Eaglets kicked off their qualifying campaign for the 2019 Africa nations cup with a 3-2 loss to Burkina Faso in Niger Republic on Monday.
Burkina Faso opened scoring in the fourth minute, courtesy of Albert Uttara. Nigeria's Samson Tijani reduced the deficit in the 13th minute, after the West African neighbours had doubled their lead.
Nigeria's opponents later got the third goal eleven minutes from time, before Eaglets scored their second goal late in the match.
The mini-tournament grouped into different zones, will serve as qualifiers for the 2019 African U-17 Championship, to be hosted by Tanzania.
