Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets have qualified for the 2019 Total CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations in Tanzania after defeating rivals Ghana on penalties in the final of the West B Zone qualifiers in Niger Republic on Saturday.
The Golden Eaglets beat Ghana 3-1 on penalties after 90 minutes of football ended 1-1.
Ghana took the lead in the 54th minute before Akinkunmi Amoo drew the Golden Eaglets level to drag the game into penalties.
The Golden Eaglets will be making a return to the U-17 AFCON after failing to qualify for the 2017 edition held in Gabon.
The 2019 U-17 AFCON, which will be the 13th edition, will run from 12 to 26 May in Tanzania.
It will serve as qualifiers for the FIFA U-17 World Cup to be hosted by Peru also next year.
