Joel Obi’s Chievo Verona Punished Over Accounting Irregularities

The team of Super Eagles’ Joel Obi, Chievo Verona , has been docked three points by the Serie A organizing committee, for accounting irregularities.

The club were found to have inflated the value of some of the transfer dealings with Cesena, which has been relegated to the Serie B.

The Flying Donkeys, were also fined €200, 000 and their president, Luca Campadelli, banned for three months.

However, the case against Cesena was dropped after the club went bankrupt during the summer.

Consequently, Chievo, which had only garnered one point from their three games in the league, are now bottom of the table with minus two points.

According to a report, Obi had found out of the situation when he returned to the club following his involvement with Nigeria in the 2019 AFCON qualifier against Seychelles and the friendly game against the Lone Star of Liberia.

Obi had previously played for Intermilan, AC Parma  and AS Torino in the Italian league.
