Abdulfatah Ahmed, the Governor of Kwara State, on Saturday declared his intention to contest for the Kwara South senatorial district in the 2019 general elections.
Governor Ahmed, who announced his declaration via a post on Twitter, expressed his desire to the representative of his constituency under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
In actualisation of his ambition, Governor Ahmed, who recently defected to the PDP from the All Progressives Congress, APC, has picked up the expression of interest and senatorial nomination forms of the opposition party, and attached a picture in the tweet displaying both.
According to him, he decided to contest for the senatorial position after he was prevailed upon by his constituents to continue the work of governance he has done as the state Governor for the past seven years.
"In response to calls by my people and in keeping with my strong desire to upscale the excellent work we have done in all three zones of the state, through effective, purposeful representation, I have picked up the PDP nomination form for Kwara South Senatorial District", Governor Ahmed tweeted.
