Two teenage boys were on Friday, arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrates Court for allegedly stealing four laptops from a branch of Christ Embassy Church. The suspects are Joseph Kolawole, 19, and Stephen Godslove, 18; both residents of Obatalabi Street, Ojodu, Lagos. They were said to have burgled the church and made away with the computers valued at N810, 000. “The accused were later arrested while they were about to burgle another church,” police prosecutor, Innocent Odugbo, told the court. “They confessed to the police that they were the ones that burgled the Christ Embassy Church and stole laptops and N200, 000 cash.” Odugbo added that the accused committed the offence on June 13, at Omolade Crescent, Omole Phase 1, Ojodu, Lagos. He said the offence contravened Sections 287, 311 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. The suspects pleaded “not guilty” to two count charge of conspiracy and theft preferred against them. S. K Matepo, the presiding Magistrate, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200, 000 each with two sureties in like sum. He adjourned until October 10 for mention.
