A 49-year-old man, Femi Emmanuel, was arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrates Court for allegedly stealing N2, 080, 000 belonging to one Babalola Hassan. The defendant was also said to have forged European currencies. According to the police prosecutor, Peter Nwaongwu, the accused had in his possession documents suspected to be counterfeit foreign currency and the sum of €5, 000. Nwaongwu told the court that the defendant committed the offence on 18 July, 2018, in the Festac area of Lagos State. He said that the offence contravened and is punishable under Sections 411, 287(3), 365(1) and 320 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State. Emmanuel pleaded “not guilty” to the four counts charge of theft and forgery preferred against him. Presiding magistrate, Y.O. Aje-Afunwa, granted the accused bail in the sum of N650,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum. The case was adjourned till 22 November, 2018.
