The Libyan senior football national team, also known as the Mediterranian Knights, have not arrived Nigeria, because employees of the country’s national carrier, Afriqiyah Airways, locked down the operations of the company in protest on Thursday.
The team was scheduled to arrive Abuja from Libya, but demonstration by staff of the company over poor administrative and financial conditions, hampered the arrangement.
But the report said the country’s newly-appointed finance minister, has now approved fund for the team to charter a flight to Akwa Ibom State for the game.
Libya, who are topping Group B, will tackle Nigeria’s Super Eagles in a 2019 AFCON qualifier double-header.
The first leg will take place at the Uyo International Stadium on Saturday, with the return leg slated for Sfax, Tunisia, next Tuesday.
