A man, Mustapha Abubakar, was on Friday, arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrates Court for allegedly stealing 45 tons of Spaghetti valued N13 million. The accused was said to have been arrested while conveying the Spaghetti with a truck to a warehouse in Kano State. According to the police prosecutor, Peter Nwaongwu, the goods were entrusted to one Ahmed Ibrahim, a resident of Ita Oluwo, in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State. Nwaongwu told the court that the defendant committed the offence on July 30, in the Ebute Ikorodu area of Lagos State. He said that the offence contravened and is punishable under Sections 411 and 287(9b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State. The accused pleaded “not guilty” to the two counts charge of theft levelled against him. Presiding magistrate, Y.O. Aje-Afunwa, granted the accused bail in the sum of N2.5 million with two responsible sureties in like sum. The magistrate said that sureties must be community leaders and property owners. The case was adjourned till 22 November, 2018.
