The Nigeria Amputee football team were on Monday, involved in a bus accident along the Lokoja-Abuja road. Pius Adaba, a member of the Nigeria Amputee Footballer Federation, who confirmed the incident, said the bus in which the team was travelling, avoided collision with a trailer, resulting in the accident. He said, “We were on our way to Abuja for our visa appointment on Tuesday at the Mexico Embassy. Then on our Way in Lokoja, the driver of the bus we were travelling in, tried to avoid colliding with a trailer, and that led to the bus entering the bush.” He added: “We are all fine and there is no casualty. The players are camped at the National Stadium in Abuja. We will attend our appointment tomorrow.” Adaba further appealed to Nigerians for more financial donations, to ensure the cash-strapped team’s participation at the 2018 World Cup, which kicks off on October 24, in Mexico. Nigeria is in same group as former world champions, Brazil and Salvador.
