US Singer, Selena Gomez is seeking treatment at a mental health facility after suffering an emotional break down, according to US reports.
The singer, 26, had recently been hospitalised in Los Angeles due to medical issues relating to a low white blood cell count stemming from the kidney transplant she underwent last year.
She was discharged, but ended up back in hospital a second time after her white blood cell count didn’t improve.
The trips to the hospital and her ill health reportedly left the star in a ‘downward emotional spiral,’ and sparked a number of panic attacks, reports TMZ.
A source told People that: “She has had a tough few weeks and the panic attack in the hospital was the tipping point.
“She realised she needed to seek additional help for her ongoing emotional issues. She’s surrounded by close family and has a lot of support. She’s doing better now and is seeking treatment on the East Coast.”
According to the website, Selena is now getting treatment at a mental health facility on the East Coast.
Selena has been very open about her battle with depression and anxiety in the past, and two weeks ago she announced she was taking a break from social media.
“As much as I am grateful for the voice that social media gives each of us, I am equally grateful to be able to step back and live my life present to the moment I have been given,” she wrote.
