Real Madrid manager, Zinedine Zidane, reportedly resigned in May over the failure of the club to sell Gareth Bale as agreed.
EL Pais, a Spanish newspaper, claimed Bale’s spectacular overhead kick against Liverpool in the Champions League final in Kiev, convinced the club’s president, Florentino Perez, to rescind his promise to sell the 29-year-old at the end of last season.
Perez had reportedly promised Zidane he would sell the former Tottenham Hotspur winger, to allow the French coach spend the money received on another player he wanted.
The trio of Premier League stars, Mohamed Salah, Eden Hazard and Harry Kane, were said to be on Zidane’s list.
Zidane announced his shock departure from the club, weeks after securing his third Champions League trophy.
He is being touted to be on the cards to replace embattled United coach, Jose Mourinho, should the club decide to sack him.
