American pop star, Ariana Grande, has reportedly withdrawn from performing or even attending the 2019 Grammy Awards.
Variety reports that the 25-year-old singer reportedly had a disagreement with Grammy producers over what song she would perform during the show.
An insider claims that Grande felt, ‘insulted’ after Grammy producers wouldn’t let her perform her new song, ‘7 Rings’, which dropped three weeks ago.
Her ‘7 Rings’ song is the latest single from her new album ‘Thank U’, ‘Next’, which will be released on Friday, just two days before the Grammy’s air from the Staples Center.
The singer and producers at first reached a compromise, agreeing that ‘7 Rings’ would be part of a medley that Grande was to perform.
But there was yet another disagreement when the producers insisted that they would be able to choose the second song of the medley.
The insider claimed that the ‘stipulations’ imposed on Grande were not imposed on any other performer.
Reps for the Grammy producers did not yet respond to Variety’s request for comment at this time.
There have already been billboards put up all over Los Angeles promoting her appearance and performance at the Grammys.
Grammy producers faced a similar situation with Lorde before last year’s ceremony, when they wouldn’t let her perform a song from her album Melodrama, which was up for Album of the Year.
Instead, they offered her a spot performing during the Tom Petty tribute, which she ultimately declined.
With Grande pulling out of both performing and attending the awards ceremony, it could lead to a big dip in the ratings, giving how popular she is at the moment.
