Atiku Berates APC Over Return Of Containers On Western Avenue, Eko Bridge

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has said the return of containers on bridges in Lagos hours after the rally of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), is a sign of disrespect for the rule of law.

Tankers and Containers on Ojuelegba, Alaka and other bridges were evacuated days before President Muhammadu Buhari visited the state for the APC’s presidential rally, which held last Saturday at the Teslim Balogun Stadium.

But the tankers returned less than a day after Buhari’s visit.

Atiku, who said this during his speech at the party’s campaign rally which held at the Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos on Tuesday, promised to uphold the rule of law if elected into office as president in this weekend’s election.

He said, “The APC government does not have any respect for the rule of law, which says we are all equal. They returned tankers to bridges in Lagos after Buhari left.

“I promise to respect the right of every Nigerian when I’m elected President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

The former vice president also blamed the APC for the economic downturn in the state, saying industries are shutting down.

“Thousands of jobs have been lost in Lagos under the APC government. Industries are shutting down because of harsh economic policies. I will reverse all these when I’m elected president,” he noted.

Atiku, a leading opposition candidate will contest the presidential election against the incumbent, Buhari, on February 16.
