The Air Accident Investigation Branch has said the body found in the wreckage of the plane carrying Emiliano Sala has been recovered.
The AAIB said specialist contractors joined the operation in “challenging conditions”.
According to the branch, the operation was carried out in “as dignified a way as possible” and the men’s families were kept updated throughout.
The wreckage of the plane, which disappeared on January 21 over the English Channel, was found off Guernsey earlier this week.
The plane, a Piper Malibu N264DB, was carrying the new Cardiff record signing from France to Cardiff, to enable the Argentine make a quick trip back to his former club Nantes two days after his £15 million transfer to the Welsh side was announced.
