Bello, the son of Nasir El-Rufai, Governor of Kaduna State, has mocked the persons who propagated the rumour announcing the supposed demise of his father.

Speculations were rife on social media on Wednesday that Governor El-Rufai, who is currently in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, had supposedly died in the North-western city of Kano.

Poking fun at the purveyors of the rumour via a post on Twitter, Bello said it was an irony for some persons to declare that his father had died in Nigeria, despite not being in the country at the stated time of their message.

Using a heavy dose of sarcasm, the governor’s son ridiculed the rumour bearers by notifying them that he had commiserated with his mother (El-Rufai’s wife) over her husband’s and that he planned to also reach out to his aunts to console them.

Bello tweeted: “I just called Mama El-Rufai to condone (sic) her about the death of her husband. A widow at her age.

“It’s greatness when you can die in a car accident in Kano despite not being in Nigeria. Mallam the Mallam.

“I’ll try and call Aunty Asia and Aunty Ummy. They must dealing (sic) with a lot too.”

Governor El-Rufai was re-elected as Kaduna State Governor after winning the election conducted on March 9.
