Aminu Tambuwal, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is currently in the lead in the vote count of the Sokoto State supplementary governorship, which held across various Local Government Areas of the state on Saturday.

Collation of results from Saturday’s election is being done by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Sokoto, the state capital.

The electoral umpire has declared results of 21 out of 22 LGAs in the state where the elections were conducted.

Out of the results of the 21 LGAs declared as at Saturday, Tambuwal, who is the incumbent governor, polled 10,499 votes, while Ahmad Aliyu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) garnered 10,338 votes.

Fatima Mukhtar, the Returning Officer for the election, adjourned the collation of results in Sokoto state till 9am.

Mukhtar made the announcement after a brief discussion with Amina Zakari, INEC National Commissioner in charge of Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states.

The Returning Officer said the adjournment was as a result of the non-arrival of results from Kebbe local government areas (LGAS) of the state.
