Man In Court For Beating Wife To Death

 

A man, Kola Ajibola, who allegedly beat his wife, Fumilayo Ajibola, to death has been arraigned before a Lagos High Court sitting in Igbosere.

The suspect, a resident of No 5, Ilufe, Street, Ibereko, Badagry area of Lagos State, was said to have committed the crime in his home. He is currently facing a murder charge.

The prosecuting officer, Y.S. Sule, told the court that Kola had subjected the deceased to constant beating before the June 6, 2012 incident which led to the latter’s death.

Sule stated that the defendant had punched his wife in the left eye during the incident leading to an injury. Kola allegedly denied the deceased proper medical treatment saying he couldn’t afford hospital bills.

It was gathered that the deceased’s health condition worsened and was eventually taken to the hospital but was later pronounced dead.

bbThe prosecutor said the offence contravened section 221 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos 2011. The presiding Justice, A.M. Nicole-Cleigh ordered that the accused remained in Ikoyi Prisons custody before the next court sitting. The case was adjourned till May 23, 2017.
