Odion Ighalo’s strike in Super Eagles’ 1-0 win against Burundi in Saturday’s AFCON Group B opener has been voted goal of the day by the Confederation of African Football.
CAF made the announcement on its verified Twitter handle on Sunday.
Ighalo’s goal was selected ahead of six others scored in the three matches played on Saturday. The other games were Guinea against Madagascar and Uganda versus DR Congo.
The former Watford striker curled his effort into the far corner, following a brilliant back heel pass from Ola Aina in the 77th minute, to break down Burundi’s defence.
The China-based star, was brought on for the ineffective Paul Onuachu in the 73rd minute.
