Samuel Kalu, Super Eagles’ winger, has not resumed training with other players, and he remains a doubt for Nigeria’s second group game against Guinea on Wednesday at the ongoing AFCON in Egypt.
Kalu was said to have collapsed in training on Friday; 24 hours to Nigeria’s opening game against Burundi on Saturday. He was rushed to hospital, where doctors said he was dehydrated.
Coach of the team, Gernot, Rohr, still exempted the player from full team practice session, as a precautionary measure.
Kalu reportedly practiced on his own, but under the supervision of coaches and doctors.
Kenneth Omeruo, Eagles’ defender, said the Bordeaux player is anxious to return to action.
“The team is happy to have him back,” he told Brila.net.
“He wanted to train fully, but he was asked to take it easy otherwise he’s good and we’re happy to have been back.”
