Femi Fani-Kayode, a former minister of aviation, has replied Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, over comment that the Yoruba ethnic group are backward despite their level of education.
Alhassan Saleh, National Secretary of the group on Monday, during an interview on Channels Television’s ‘Sunrise Daily’, while speaking against the launch of Operation ‘Amotekun’, said support for the security outfit shows how primitive and illiterate people from the South-West are.
“It is not blackmail. Unfortunately, with very strong apology to my South-West friends, despite the education of the Yoruba people, they still remain the most primitive in terms of politics. They are not tolerant to opposition and if you allow them to have an ethnic army, definitely there will be fear from Nigerians,” Saleh said.
Balarabe Musa, a former governor of Kaduna State during the second republic, had also alleged that the security outfit was a ploy by the region to establish Oduduwa Republic.
But Fani-Kayode, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), chieftain, on Wednesday, stated that anyone is free to call southerners by any name, but none of them has been accused of sleeping with cows.
He said: “You can say anything you like about the sons and daughters of Oduduwa but one thing you cannot say is that we have sexual relations with cows.
“I have never heard of a son of Oduduwa sleeping with a cow. Unfortunately I cannot say the same about those who call us illiterates.”
