Tanzania, under the tutelage of former Nigeria international Emmanuel Amuneke, have qualified for the 2019 African Cup of Nations, their first since the 1980 edition.
The Taifa Stars, as the Tanzanian senior men’s national team are fondly called, defeated visiting Uganda 3-0 in their final Group L game on Sunday.
Simon Msuwa put Tanzania 1-0 in the 21st minute before Erasto Nyoni made it 2-0 from the penalty spot in the 51st minute.
And in the 57th minute, Aggrey Morris made sure of the qualification ticket by making it 3-0.
The win means Tanzania finish second in the group on eight points behind Uganda who had already qualified on 13 points.
In the group’s other game Cape Verde were held to a 0-0 home draw against Lesotho.
