Anambra Varsity Lecturer Sacked Over Falsified Academic Records

One Peter Ekemezie has been sacked by the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, after it was found that he falsified his academic records.

Ekemezie, a senior lecturer in the Department  of Pure and Industrial Chemistry of the Faculty of Physical Sciences, was first exposed by a newspaper report after which the varsity investigated and found the accusation to be true.

He had claimed to have obtained a master’s degree and PhD from UNIZIK. He was allegedly covered by top officers of the school for nine years before he was found out.

Before his sacking last Friday, he was in line for promotion to the rank of a Reader (Associate Reader).

The Punch reports that in July, he was extradited by the governing council of the varsity and banned from the school, as committees were set up to investigate the various allegations, including forgery, plagiarism, double employments and fraudulent certificates.
