Authorities To Investigate Sudden Illness Of 50 Soldiers


An investigation has been launched by the Swiss authorities on Friday into the sudden illness of 50 soldiers in a military barrack near Bern.

The illness started late Thursday and the soldiers had to be rushed to the hospital.

A military spokesman said most of the soldiers, who were taken ill late Thursday with extreme nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea, had already been released from hospital.

The quarantine imposed on the military barracks in Jassbach, a town 40 kilometres southeast of the capital, was lifted on Friday, the spokesman said.
