President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Thomas John as the acting Alternate Chairman of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Governing Board.
The president’s appointment was disclosed in a statement issued by Maikanti Baru, the outgoing NNPC Group Managing Director.
According to the statement, John will act in the capacity as the Chairman until a new Minister of Petroleum Resources or Minister of State for Petroleum Resources is appointed.
Baru added that John’s appointment is in line with Sections 1(3) and 2(1) of the NNPC Act and takes effect immediately.
John was a former NNPC Group Managing Director, as well as a member of the corporation’s Governing Board.
