President Muhammadu Buhari has blamed the last administration of Goodluck Jonathan for his lateness in compiling the list of ministerial nominees which was submitted to the senate leadership on Wednesday. The President said this in his independence anniversary speech on Thursday morning. According to him, lateness in submitting handing over notes had delayed his government’s decision making saying it would have been haphazard to rush into ministerial appointments. He also said the Joda Transition Committee had to submit its report on the reorganisation of Federal Government structure after studying the hand over notes. “We received the handing over notes from the outgoing government only four days before taking over. Consequently, the Joda Transition Committee submitted its Report on the reorganization of Federal Government structure after studying the hand over notes. It would have been haphazard to announce ministers when the government had not finalized the number of ministries to optimally carry the burden of governance,” he said. He, however, confirmed the submission of the first set of names to the senate. He promised that subsequent lists will be forwarded in due course.
