Senator Ahmed Lawan, the Senate President, has announced that the list of ministerial nominees will be submitted by President Muhammadu Buhari to the upper chamber this week.
The Senate President disclosed this during plenary on Wednesday in response to a point of order raised by Senator Bassey Akpan, the lawmaker representing Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial district.
Senator Akpan had expressed displeasure over the inability of the president to submit the list, lamenting that the lawmakers’ annual two-month recess could be affected by the time the list is finally transmitted to the upper chamber.
Responding, Senator Lawan said the Presidency has intensified efforts to ensure that the ministerial list is submitted before the end of this week.
The Senate President also expressed confidence that the nominees would be screened by the upper chamber before the annual vacation which would commence on July 26.
Newsbreak recalls that a source in the Presidency had said earlier in May that President Buhari will submit his list of ministerial nominees to the National Assembly for screening and confirmation hearings in July.
