Lauretta Onochie, Personal Assistant to the President on social media, has said Abubakar Shekau, leader of a Boko Haram sect, threatened Muhammadu Buhari because he is frustrated by tactics employed by the government in the fight against insurgency.
Shekau in a video last week, threatened Buhari over his condolence visit to Borno State, and gave conditions to releasing the remaining Chibok schoolgirls, who are still in captivity.
The Boko Haram leader also threatened Isa Pantami, the minister of communication and digital economy, over the restriction on registration of SIM card, which will disrupt the communication of the sect.
But reacting to the threats on her Twitter page, Onochie said that Shekau’s threats showed that the Buhari-led government is fighting insecurity and crippling the jihadi group.
“Some of us think this government is not tackling insecurity.
“Boko Haram’s Shekau is expressing frustration by threatening to kill Hon. Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Sheik Isa Pantami.
“The SIM Card registration and restriction policy is affecting them,” she wrote.
