A butcher, Michael Kingsley, has been arrested for allegedly stabbing his colleague, Ifeanyi Egwuagu, to death on January 14, 2018 at Artisan Quarters in the Ogui area of Enugu state. Kingsley slaughters chicken for a living while Egwuagu kills goats within the same area. Eyewitnesses told Southern City News that Kingsley fle after stabbing Egwuagu, who later died at Eastern Medical Centre in Enugu, where he was rushed to for treatment. Ebere Amaraizu, the spokesman for the Enugu State Police Command, said the butcher was arrested while attempting to leave Enugu. Amaraizu added that following his arrest, Kingsley owned up to the crime, but claimed that he did not intend to kill Egwuagu. He explained that the suspect had gone drinking with another friend, identified as Ogidi but a fight ensued between them. Egwuagu had been trying to separate them before he was stabbed with a broken bottle. The police spokesman added that ‘a full-scale investigation’ was being conducted to unravel the circumstances that led to the killing.
