Danladi Umar, chairman, Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, has declined request by Senate President Bukola Saraki for a week adjournment in his ongoing trial for false assets declaration. Umar said the tribunal had fixed hearing of the case on daily basis and got the consent of both Saraki’s and prosecution’s lawyers to it. He added that allowing Saraki a leave of absence would disrupt the flow of witnesses, and one of who Kanu Agabi, Saraki’s lead counsel cross-examined during Monday’s proceeding. The tribunal chairman also noted that Saraki’s lawyers sought and were given all documents tendered during the said proceeding, an indication of their acquiescence to a speedy trial.
