Champions League: Enyimba Keep Hope Alive, Pillars Crash Out

Enyimba thrashed Rahimo 5-0 in the second-leg of their CAF Champions League preliminary qualifying match, to progress to the first round on 5-1 aggregate.

The NPFL champions overturned a 1-0 first-leg defeat in Burkina Faso, with a dominating performance behind closed doors inside their international stadium.

Reuben Bala opened the scoring for the two-time winners of the competition in the 32nd minute, after they had a goal cancelled earlier.

The game resumed in the second half with the home side scoring again under just two minutes.

They will progress to the next round, awaiting the winner between Rayon Sports Rwanda and Al-Hilal Omdurman.  The first-leg between the two ended 1-1 in Kigali.

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s second Champions League representatives, Kano Pillars, were dumped out of the competition after a 4-3 aggregate loss to Asante Kotoko of Ghana.

Pillars won the first-leg 3-2 at home, but were outclassed by 10-men Kotoko in a 2-0 win at Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on Sunday.
