Lionel Messi, Argentina captain, has berated pitches at the ongoing Copa America championship.
Argentina beat Venezuela 2-0 on Friday, to set up a mouth-watering semi-final clash against hosts, Brazil, next Tuesday.
The Barcelona star echoed the thoughts of Brazil coach, Tite, who also condemned the quality of the turf at Gremio, where his team defeated Paraguay on penalties to book a semi-final spot on Thursday.
“It is difficult to play, the pitches are bad. It is a shame that all the pitches are like this in a Copa America,” he told Goal.com
Messi, who has been criticized for having not won a major tournament with Argentina, admitted that he has under-performed at the championship.
“The truth is that it’s not been my best Copa America, not what I expected,” he added.
