Six people have allegedly been killed by men of the Nigerian Customs Service, NSC, while pursuing smugglers on Sunday evening at Oke-Odan town, in Yewa South Local Government Area, Ogun state.
The officials were reported to be pursuing two vehicles loaded with rice, coming from Igolo, a border town between Nigeria and Benin Republic. They reportedly seized the smugglers vehicles, but were ambushed while returning to their office at Idi-Iroko area. The clash with the smugglers allegedly led to the death of three children, a roadside mechanic and panel-beater, among others.
