Deputy Senate President, Ekweremadu Escapes Assassination

The Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, escaped an assassination attempt on Tuesday. The attempt, according to Uche Anichukwu, his spokesperson, occurred between Apo Flyover and Dantata Construction Company’s yard, close to the Old Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Headquarters junction, Abuja on his way to work.

He said the suspected assassins operated in a white-coloured Mercedes Benz AMG E63 without number plates. He said the car was driven by a long-bearded light skinned foreigner, apparently a mercenary. He said the driver had violently broken into the convoy and attempted to attack the senator’s car. The escort had charged at the intruder before he made a u-turn and escaped.
