Domestic Workers Steal Employer’s N243m Jewelry, Watches, Sell For N10m

Two domestic workers have been arrested for stealing their employer’s jewelry and wrist watches worth N243 million and reselling them for N10 million.

The workers connived and stole a Cuban Diamond neck chain, a Frank Muller and Rolex wrist watches worth the sum.
They were allegedly arrested on Wednesday in Borno State, after almost two weeks of fleeing their boss’ house in the Lekki area of Lagos State.
The suspects; Alex Obinyan, a cleaner, 39, and Ayuba Samson, 29, car washer, were arrested after they had sold the items in Lagos and Abuja.

However, the identity of their employer, who is said to be a popular celebrity was not disclosed

Obinyan had spent over eight years working and living with the celebrity before the incident, while Ayuba started working at the celebrity residence two months ago, after returning from Chibok, his home town in Borno State.

They reportedly earn N80,000 and N50,000 monthly.

The suspects, who were captured on CCTV leaving the celebrity’s residence, have confessed to stealing the Chain valued at N54 million, the Frank Moller Wrist watch worth N140 million, and the Rolex worth N49 million.

According to Obinyan, they sold the Cuban Diamond Chain in Eti- Osa for N6 million, while the Frank Moller watch was sold in Abuja for N4 million.
