DSS Arrests Man Who Created Fake Marriage Video Between Buhari, Ministers

The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested one Kabiru Mohammed, who allegedly created a fake video depicting the marriage of President Muhammadu Buhari and two of his ministers.

This was disclosed by Peter Afunaya, DSS spokesperson, at a press conference in Abuja on Friday.

Mohammed, a 32-year-old male from Kano State, was said to have created different videos portraying the marriage of President Buhari to Sadiya Umar Farouq, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development; and Zainab Ahmed, Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, respectively.

Speaking at the press conference, Afunaya disclosed that the intelligence service acted on a formal complaint by Ahmed.

The DSS spokesperson warned Nigerians against the of fake news, noting that the service would not hesitate to arrest any individual deemed to be causing instability in the country with fake information.

He also used the event to reiterate the agency’s commitment to maintaining the peace and stability of Nigeria.
