Gernot Rohr, Super Eagles head coach, has admitted that his team only played well in the first 45 minutes of the 2-2 result against Ukraine in an international friendly on Tuesday.
Nigeria had a two-goal lead in Dnipro through Joe Aribo and Victor Osimhen within 34 minutes of the game, capping a brilliant first-half display over the host.
However the team relaxed in the second half, which made the momentum swing in Ukraine’s favour, with two quick goals.
The Andriy Shevchenko’s men equalised in the 78th and 79th minutes, which emphasized their dominance of the half.
Speaking after the game, Rohr suggested that Nigeria only won the first half of the game.
“Great control match,” Rohr said.
‘Both sides demonstrated quality football. We won the first half, but Ukraine played at home, so the result is natural. After the break, the opponent did much better.”
