The couple departed the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Monday evening aboard an Emirates Airline with number EK2614.
The plane had a stop-over in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates before proceeding to New Delhi.
Upon arrival in India, El-Zakzaky was received by medical doctors and wheeled into the hospital, where he is expected to be treated for different ailments.
The IMN leader and his wife travelled out of the country after Justice Darius Khobo of the Kaduna State High Court granted their application as filed by their counsel, Femi Falana, to seek medical treatment in India.
Over 180 doctors from seven countries had written to President Muhammadu Buhari, requesting that El-Zakzaky and his wife be allowed to seek medical attention outside Nigeria as the country lacked the requisite facilities to treat their ailment.
Prior to their departure, the couple had been in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) since 2015 after they were arrested, following a series of clashes between the group and security agencies in Kaduna State.
The Kaduna State government subsequently preferred treason charges against the IMN leader and his wife.
As ordered by the court, officials of the Department of State Services (DSS) and the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) flew with the couple.
