Former world heavyweight boxing champion, Wladimir Klitschko, and his family, were rescued by firefighters, after the luxury yacht they were on caught fire.
Firefighters rushed to the scene on off the coast of Mallorca, Spain, as it drifted off water in the night, after a fire broke out in the engine room on Sunday.
The 42-year-old, his family and crew escaped unhurt from the incident, but the Ukrainian posted the news on his Twitter handle on Tuesday.
“Be careful what you wish for: fate took my wish for “some #adrenalin” a bit too literally and our boat-trip on Sunday night ended up in our boat #igniting and family & friends being evacuated by coast guard and fire rescue-team. No worries: we are all fine!”
He posted a video, in which the cruise was covered in fire-fighting foam in the night.
Maritime Rescue said the rented yacht suffered a fire in the engine room, and drifted nine miles south of Port Adriano, the upmarket marina in Mallorca, when they were alerted.
Klitschko with his family were sailing from Ibiza to Palma.
There had been fears that the yacht could explode, and the nine occupants were quickly evacuated to a rescue boat.
“The occupants of the boat were evacuated safe and sound, while the ship was transferred to port, where a fire crew from Mallorca extinguished the fire,” a spokesman for the emergency services said.
