Five Remanded For Armed Robbery

An Ebute Metta Chief Magistrates’ Court has remanded five men in prison for alleged armed robbery.

The quintet, Samson Ogochukwu, 20; Chibuikem Okonkwo, 30; Peter Cyprain, 30, Daniel Taiwo, 28; and Yusuf Adejanu, 28 are facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, armed robbery and unlawful possession of arms.

The prosecutor, Cousin Adams said the suspects and others at large, armed with a security baton and dangerous weapons robbed one Temitope Fatade and her husband of their Lexus RX 350 Jeep with registration number GGE 958 BL, one IPhone 6, a laptop and other valuables worth N40 million.

According to him, their offences contravened Section 229 and 296 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos state.

The Magistrate, K.O Olajuwon, however, ordered their remand in prison pending advise from the state Directorate of Public Prosecutions, DPP.

Olajuwon adjourned the case till September 21 for hearing.
