Former Super Falcons Player, Chiejine, Dies

Ifeanyichukwu Chiejine, a former Super Falcons player, has died on Wednesday after suffering a brief illness. 

Her demise was announced by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Thursday. She was the captain of the first set of the Under-19 National Women’s team to the first Under 19 (Under-20) FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2002. 

“We are sad to announce the sudden demise of former Super Falcons player Ifeanyichukwu Chiejine who passed on after a brief illness on Wednesday, 21st August 2019. Ifeanyi captained the first set of the U19 National Women’s team to the first U19 (Now U20) FIFA WWC in 2002,” the NFF wrote on Instagram. 

World football governing body, FIFA, has sent a condolence message to the NFF, her teammates, friends and family.
