Fraud-Tainted Fidelity Bank MD To Face Court Next Week

Fraud-tainted managing director of Fidelity Bank Limited, Nnamdi Okonkwo, may be arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, probing his alleged complicity in a corruption act. Okonkwo is alleged to have laundered $153 million for former Minister of Petroleum Diezani Alison-Madueke. A report said the banker was arraigned Wednesday before an Ikeja, Lagos Magistrates’ Court, which ordered his remand in EFCC custody pending the outcomes of the an ti-graft agency’s investigation. Okonkwo was recently released for helping the same ex-minister to ferry $115m in bribes to electoral officials during the last presidential election.
