Gunmen Kill Senator Abbo’s Uncle, Kidnap His Stepmother

Tragedy struck the household of Senator Elisha Abbo, the lawmaker currently entangled in an assault allegation, after gunmen killed his uncle in Adamawa State on Saturday.

The gunmen, it was also learnt, kidnapped the aged stepmother of the lawmaker, who represents Adamawa North senatorial district.

Suleiman Yahaya, the Police Public Relations Officer, Adamawa State command, confirmed the incident.

Yahaya, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, stated that the incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday.

The police spokesperson explained that that the gunmen had intially abducted Abbo’s stepmother, only identified as Rifkatu, when Abbo’s uncle came out of his house nearby and raised an alarm.

Following his alarm, Abbo’s uncle was immediately shot to death by the fleeing gunmen, according to Yahaya.

He stated that the police would reveal the identity of Abbo’s uncle at a time yet to be disclosed.

“Our men from the Inspector General of Police team are after them”, the police spokesperson told the News Agency of Nigeria.

Yahaya also confirmed that Emmanuel Piridimso, Permanent Secretary of Adamawa Ministry of Mineral Resources, who was kidnapped on Wednesday has been freed.

He stated that the victim was released on Friday.

“The kidnappers realized that we were closing up on them and have since released the man; he was released on Friday,” Yahaya said.
